NABERS UK and EPC Professionals

ESA Ltd has been providing NABERS ratings for over 10 years through our experience within the Australian scheme.  With the introduction of the scheme here in the UK, ESA Ltd can offer our vast experience in this field to drive energy reduction in your properties.

We also can provide NDEA L3 & 4 Commercial EPCs as part of our service offering.

What is NABERS UK?

NABERS UK is a performance based energy rating scheme that was originally started in Australia in 1999 and is the world leading energy performance rating tool for commercial properties.    Following its introduction, the scheme has resulted in 40% energy reduction since its conception.  NABERS AU scheme has saved 9,9 million tonnes of CO2 emissions enough to power 93,430 homes, 1.4 billions dollars savings in energy bills in commercial buildings as well as 90 percent of office spaces rated with NABERS.

NABERS Energy measures the efficiency of an office building and rates its performance. The energy rating works by comparing the energy consumption of a building against a set of benchmarks that have been developed using actual data.

NABERS Energy rates the base building performance. This includes central services like heating and cooling systems, lifts and lobby lighting, allowing office buildings to be compared based on how the central services are being run to provide a comfortable working environment for users.

NABERS UK currently offers the below ratings:

-  Base building NABERS Energy Rating: occurs when central services like heating and cooling systems, lifts and lobby lighting are rated. Whole building NABERS Energy rating: this rates the base building and tenant occupied space.

-  Tenancy NABERS Energy Rating: when businesses choose to rate the space they occupy within a building. The energy used by office tenancies can account for around 50% of the total office building’s energy use. To tailor the tool for the tenancy market, we look at:

  • Area of office
  • Hours of occupancy
  • Number of computer

-  Whole Building Rating – Measures the combined base building and tenant occupied space in one rating. This usually occurs when there is a single tenant occupying an entire building.
